bio written 2019
Isabel Thiroux is the Director of Orchestra Operations for the American Youth Symphony. Growing up in a musical household in Los Angeles, she was surrounded by music and began studying violin at age 4 and switched to viola at age 14. Being a part of youth orchestras played such an important role in developing the skills that have led her to where she is today.
Isabel played viola in the American Youth Symphony from 2001-2007, joined the staff in 2007 as an administrative assistant, became the Orchestra Manager in 2010 and Director of Orchestra Operations in 2015.
Isabel is passionate about mentoring the next generation of musicians, and in 2015 completed the League of American Orchestras’ “Essentials of Orchestra Management” program.
Isabel maintains an active career as a freelance violist performing regularly around the Los Angeles area.
In looking back at an old CVYO roster and newspaper article, I was reminded of how wonderful it was to be a part of this orchestra. I went to a high school that did not have an orchestra program so being able to play with the other members of CVYO was a great learning opportunity!
