CVYO Brass Coach, Debbie Boltinghouse graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in 1977. She is a freelance trombonist and has held positions with numerous symphonies and orchestras and has performed in many theatrical productions and played and recorded with numerous well-known performers.

 

Mrs. Boltinghouse has been an instructor and clinician for trombone, euphonium and tuba since 1972 and many of her students have received scholarships at major conservatories and universities. She has been low brass instructor at Thousand Oaks High School since 1992 and has coached brass at several middle schools and high schools in the area. Mrs. Boltinghouse is a solo/ensemble adjudicator for SCSBOA and has judged the Music Center Spotlight Awards for 15 years.

 

In addition, Mrs. Boltinghouse is the leader and founder of "Brass Quintessence", a professional freelance brass quintet which performs throughout the Southern California area. She is co-producer of the world renowned trombone CD, "All My Concertos", which she produced with her husband Jim, also a professional trombonist.

 

Mrs. Boltinghouse has been the brass coach for the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra since 2001. Her daughter Mollie played flute with CVYO from 1991-1996, and is now a Music Therapist in Los Angeles. Debbie coaches the CVYO Brass Quintet and loves working with these talented musicians.
