CVYO Cello Coach, Saundra Sonderling graduated with a Cello Performance degree from Immaculate Heart College School of Music and is about to earn her Masters in Cello Performance from California State University, Northridge.


She is the winner at the Orange County Musical Arts String Competition, H. Lynn Sheller Presidential Award, Dumont Hogue Scott Award, Woman of Distinction for two consecutive years, Rotary Club Award, full scholarship plus room and board at Immaculate Heart College.


Ms. Sonderling spent two summers studying chamber music with the members of the Philadelphia Quartet and others including Robert Sylvester and Menachem Pressler (pianist with the Beaux Arts Trio).


As a cellist, Ms. Sonderling has been a featured soloist with orchestras throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties and is a recitalist and a freelance musician. As a teacher, she has a thriving studio in the Thousand Oaks area. In addition, Ms. Sonderling acts as an occasional competition judge.


Many of Ms. Sonderling’s students have gone on to be successful cello professionals including a professional cellist & recitalist in Germany.


In November, 2011, Ms. Sonderling was honored to be one of the few cellists chosen to perform in a Memorial Concert honoring the great cellist, Bernard Greenhouse at Cal State Fullerton.
